University of Tennessee at Chattanooga

A 125-Year Tradition

client: University of Tennessee at Chattanooga | published: 2011

During the years immediately following the Civil War and Union occupation of Chattanooga, leaders of the Methodist Episcopal Church assembled in Chattanooga to found the South’s “great central university.” The original, four-story Gothic architectural gem that was the single campus structure was dubbed by newspapers of the day as “a light upon the hill.” One hundred and twenty-five years after its 1886 charter, the light continues to shine and is celebrated in this 125th Anniversary book.

“We are thrilled with the book celebrating our 125th Anniversary and the experience working with Grandin Hood. The finished product captures the beauty of our campus and truly inspires pride in our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.”
